Perhaps the best known temple in Thailand, Wat Po is famed for its giant reclining Buddha, 15 meters tall, 46 meters in length and covered in gold leaf. There is, though, a great deal more to be seen at Wat Po, and a stroll round the rest of the temple grounds, with numerous shrines sculptures, courtyards and garden spaces, is highly recommended. In more recent times, Wat Pho has gained international recognition as a meditation center and for the traditional Thai massage that is both practiced and taught there.
